Hi

Can I use OpenPDC manager to manage remote OpenPDC? Can I use OpenPDC manager to manage more than 1 independent PDCs?

Hi Janio!

You can run the openPDC installer and only install the manager components on a workstation, then, as long the workstation can (1) access the openPDC configuration database, and (2) access needed openPDC service instance ports – then, yes, you can run the openPDC Manager remotely.

The same manager can manage different openPDC instances, but normally, you need to run the Configuration Setup Utility to point the openPDC Manager to a new instance – so managing different openPDC instances remotely with the same openPDC Manager requires a reconfiguration.

We have considered a little front-end tool that has a list of remote openPDC Manager instances, which then when one was selected, would re-configure the openPDC Manager for the selected remote openPDC instance, then restart the manager application – this would be a light weight, “instance selection tool” – but this has not been developed.
